Adopt a Domestic Short Hair

Domestic Short Hair Cat

Apollo the Cat needs a home

Affectionate, Silly, Rambunctious Apollo is a classic tabby, meaning she has a swirly pattern to her coat. With her rich chocolate color, she might make you think of a sweet cinnamon bun and when she lays on her side! Add her striking eye makeup, and Apollo is one standout of a gal. Apollo absolutely adores people! When you hold her, she will rub her head against your chin and will lean into a nice ear scratch. She likes to sit in your lap, but she is still a kitten with kitten energy to burn off, so her visits to your lap might be short. Sometimes she will meow to get your attention; and when she has it, then she will meow and chirp her affection for you. Apollo plays with toys either with people or by herself. She keeps herself entertained by chasing balls around the house and attacking the scratching post. And she will keep YOU entertained by her "stalk face"; when she is stalking something, she will bunch up her face, get very low to the ground, and her eyes seem to grow impossibly large! She will play with the laser toy, but it seems to confuse her; where is it? where did it go? She can play roughly and is learning that hands and legs aren't toys; she doesn't mean anything by it and isn't trying to cause harm -- she is just excited, but children should be supervised around her. Apollo likes other cats, but can be a bit of a bully to them when she plays. Her ideal home would be with a patient, cat-experienced person who can work with her to teach her to play gently; and if there is a resident cat, be able to appropriately introduce them and monitor their interaction. Same goes for going to a home with a dog; she hasn't shown a fear of dogs, but would need to learn to live with a patient canine. Apollo would do best with lots of love and attention from her human companions. If you are a pet owner who loves to talk about the silly things their cat does, Apollo will give you lots of material! She is sweet and a bit of a handful. She definitely needs access to scratching posts and toys to expend her energy -- and people who will give her love and attention. Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet with Apollo! Apollo is one of hundreds of cats and kittens that APA! has rescued from the perils of Hurricane Harvey. Most of these kitties are up for adoption and in need of a forever home. The greatest result of a rescue is the creation of loving relationships. Share in this joy with us and adopt a cat or kitten and create your own rescue love story! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Apollo, please email [email protected].
